Kenyan world champion Ruth Chepngetich won the Chicago marathon for the second consecutive year, stopping the clock in 2: 14.18, 14 seconds off the world record. Emily Sisson of the United States was second (2: 18.29) and Kenyan Vivian Kiplagat third (2: 20.52). In men, Kenyans Benson Kipruto, Boston champion in 2021, and John Korir made the one-three with 2: 04.24 and 2: 05.01. Ethiopian Seifu Tura, reigning monarch, was second (2: 04.49).
