(Reuters) – Tesla sold 83,135 Chinese-made vehicles in September, surpassing China’s monthly sales record, according to data released Sunday by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), an industry federation.
This figure represents an 8% increase compared to August as the American group continues to invest to improve production at the Shanghai plant.
Tesla’s previous sales record for vehicles made in China was 78,906 electric vehicles sold in June.
Globally, the top-rated automaker said last week that it delivered 343,830 electric vehicles in the third quarter, a record number but less than the 359,162 units on average forecast by analysts, according to Refinitiv data.
