Juris Bartkevičs and Baiba Broka will receive the Žanis Katlapa award for outstanding roles in theater and cinema established by the Tukuma region this year, the LETA agency was informed by the organizers of the event.
On Friday 14 October, at 4.00 pm, the Katlapa award “For Proof of National Values in Latvia’s Theatrical and Cinematic Environment” will be solemnly presented in the Durbe Palace of the Tukuma region.
This time the prizes will be awarded to Dailes theater and film actor Juris Bartkevičs – for outstanding performance in Latvian theaters, but above all he will be awarded for the role of Anton Benjamins in the TV series “Emīlija. Queen of Latvian Press” and Baiba Broka , actress of the Riga Young Theater and cinema, which will receive the award for outstanding roles in the Riga New Theater and Latvian films.
The Žanis Katlapa award was previously received by Māra Zālīte, Ināra Slucka, Harijs Gulbis, Alvis Hermanis, Inga Ābele, Māra Ķimele, Viesturs Kairišs, Guna Zariņa, Kaspars Znotiņš, Sigvards Kļavaņ, Uldisudis Dumpis, Uldisudis Dumpis , Lasma Kugrena and Edmund Freiberg.
Prizes will be awarded to the winners, as well as a symbolic prize, which is traditionally made by the metal artist – the blacksmith Gints Haneckis of the parish of Tume, which is also the birthplace of actor, director and pedagogue Žanis Katlapas.
