Electric motors are expected to be a solution to the high pollution from motor vehicle exhaust emissions and also to high fuel prices. It’s right?
We tested the NIU NQi Sport 26 electric motorcycle for a whole week and tracked every lap.
But unfortunately, the NIU NQi Sport lacks information on kWh and remaining mileage on the instrument cluster. Making the data we collect only limited to distance to reduce the battery percentage.

Oh yes, please note beforehand, the NIU NQi Sport we tested was type 26, i.e. using a 60 Volt 26 Ah battery.
It is said that this battery can cover a distance of 60-70km and during our tests we always stopped at 60km, the maximum mileage of a battery on a full charge. Not bad, right?
Now let’s get into the charge test. This is an indicator of whether an electric motor is cheap or not. We use a kWh counter, to find out the amount of kWh that arrives at one time for a certain charging duration.

We use a reload data. The NIU NQi Sport battery, which was 26%, was charged for 2 hours and 58 minutes and came in at around 0.830 kWh. As a result, the battery becomes 80% of the battery percentage.
That is, 2 hours 58 minutes and 0.830 kWh can produce 54% of power. If we convert to rupee, calculating 1 kWh of household electricity at Rp 1,447, charging the battery by 54% costs Rp 1,201.
Meanwhile, if we calculate it roughly, it means that from zero to 100 percent, it won’t cost more than 2,400 silver IDR. Economic isn’t it?
We assume that the NIU NQi Sport 26 costs around IDR 2,400 silver for a full battery charge. It means that this cost can cover a distance of up to 60km.
Meanwhile, if we compare with the Honda Beat scooter, which is claimed by Astra Honda Motor, it can travel 60.6km on a liter of gasoline, it is clear that this electric motorcycle is much cheaper.
Because the cheapest liter of gasoline, namely Pertalite, is now Rp. 10 thousand. Honda Beat with Rp. 10 thousand is able to travel 60.6 km. While the NIU NQi Sport 26, with Rp. 2,400 can cover 60 km.
From this illustration, it means that the NIU NQi Sport electric motorcycle is 4 to 5 times more efficient than the Honda Beat. But also keep in mind that the selling price of the NIU NQi Sport 26 is much more expensive than the Honda Beat, at Rp. 30,325,000.
