NVIDIA RTX 3060 with GDDR6X?
A reseller selling OEM parts for Lenovo devices is now offering GeForce RTX 3060 with upgraded GDDR6X memory.
There have been rumors that the GeForce RTX 3060 will shrink memory to 8GB, but so far no one has mentioned that this SKU will have a faster type of memory. just yesterday, we mentioned That a UK retailer is now preparing to sell the RTX 3060 Ti Founders Edition with GDDR6X memory, confirming previous speculations.
If this Slovakian retailer’s listing for “Lenovo RTX 3060 12GB GDDR6X” is correct, it could indicate that a non-Ti RTX 3060 could follow even with faster memory.
Upgrading your memory to the GDDR6X standard would likely mean two things, higher memory speed and higher bandwidth, but also a higher TDP. Interestingly, the specifications listed by the Slovakian retailer don’t seem to appear either. The boost clock is still 1.78 GHz and the maximum power consumption appears to be the same at 170 W.
A quick check of the product number shows that it matches the Lenovo RTX 3060 GDDR6 SKU. So it could be assumed that it was just a fault on the part of the retailer or a memory swap on an existing part. Both options are equally plausible given the recent rumors.
