In the wake of his US Open semifinal, he nibbled two more positions in the hierarchy, showing registration number 17 for the first time in his career. For Nick Kyrgios, however, the climb stops a bit. Hit in the knee and forced to forfeit in the quarter-finals of the Japanese ATP 500, the Australian lost his place in the Top 20 (21st), to Denis Shapovalov, semifinalist in the same tournament. His chances of participating in the Masters, already scarce, are now more than compromised.

Mannarino soon number 1 in France?
Extraordinary against Stan Wawrinka and David Goffin – who, however, had knocked out Carlos Alcaraz – Adrian Mannarino had a great week in Kazakhstan. There he reached his seventh quarter-final of the season, a performance that allowed him to overtake … seven of his colleagues to find himself 44th. Not only does the expert left-handed return to the Top 50, but he also approaches Gaël Monfils (38th), still injured and awaiting the birth of his first child. Starting from the observation that hard indoor is one of his best grass surfaces, Mannarino will therefore have the opportunity at the end of the season to conquer the place of the French number 1.
