Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Some people usually resort to adding olive oil to their food in abundance, as they believe it contains fewer calories than other oils and fats.
However, this information is only a rumor.
The World Health Organization in the Sultanate of Oman explained, through its official account on the “Instagram” website, that healthy fats, such as olive oil, contain a high percentage of calories, which contribute to weight gain.
Therefore, it is recommended to consume it in moderation.
The UAE Community Ministry of Health and Protection explained in an Instagram post that extra virgin olive oil contains more antioxidants than refined types of olive oil.
He pointed out that the reason is due to its cold pressing within 24 hours of the first olive harvest.
The UAE Ministry of Health and Protection added that certain types of oils improve heart and blood vessel health and also reduce the risk of sudden attacks.
