Tens of thousands of fish salmon died mass and their carcasses filled a small river in the Heiltsuk area, British Columbia, Canada. The mass death was the result of severe drought in the region.
On social media, you can see piles of salmon carcasses on the dry river bed. “It is very disturbing to see this happening. We have seen salmon deaths before, but never so many,” said William Housty, local conservation manager.

A biologist estimated the number of salmon killed in the area to be around 65,000. This is cause for concern as the numbers of wild salmon have recently shown signs of decreasing due to pollution problems, overfishing and even the phenomenon of climate change.
