WEV beat EV Zeltweg – Murtal Lions away after extra time
Zeltweg fans experienced an extremely exciting and sometimes difficult match. EV Zeltweg – The Murtal Lions have taken the lead five times against the WEV and the Viennese have drawn five times.
In three-on-three overtime, the visitors scored the winning goal with Cedric Ehrenreich with the first lead with 29 seconds left. Marco Herzl scored 1-0 after exactly 04:16 minutes for the first goal of the new Austrian ice hockey season.
The WEV drew immediately with Stefan Nador only 33 seconds later. Subsequently, a varied game developed in the Murtal Lions Arena, notably scored by the Viennese striker Patrick Böhm with three direct hits. When Michael Grüneis scored 5: 4 for the home team in the third period, Löwen fans speculated that the anniversary season would start well: in 2023 the Murtal Lions will celebrate 70 years of ice hockey at Zeltweg.
But that night the WEV cracks coached by player manager Mario Kubeczka turned out to be a stubborn opponent. Oscar Marchhart led the Gialloneri to extra time, in which Cedric Ehrenreich’s goal ensured an away victory and an extra point.
