The San Diego Padres got off to a great start in their wild card match against the New York Mets, after beating them 7×1 in a game held at Citi Field in Queens.
The Californians showed no mercy for locals’ extraclass starter Max Scherzer, who was taken out of the pits in the fifth inning after Manny Machado’s home run.
The first shot was in the same opening chapter with Josh Bell’s four-corner shot. An inning later came another home run, coming out of Trent Grisham’s woods, and so the Padres were improving their actions until the fifth inning came the shots of the curazoleño Jurickson Profar and the aforementioned Machado.
Scherzer left the game as a starter with the second highest number of points and home runs allowed in his team’s opening post-season match. It was the second worst score for home runs allowed by the Mets in a playoff match. The most negative number was in Game 4 of the 2006 ALCS against St. Louis (4).

Very different from the future member of the Hall of Fame was the Japanese Yu Darvish. In seven innings they entered the house only once, due to the bombing of Venezuelan Eduardo Escobar at the end of the fifth inning.
The 2009 classic champion only conceded six hits, walked none, and hit a total of four rivals. Completing seven innings, he became the fourth pitcher in the franchise to do so, something previously done by Kevin Brown (3), Ed Whitson and Andy Ashby.
Luis García was tasked with filming the final scene of the crash and, although the Mets threatened the runners in the corners, they left the desire to change the outcome.
The winners’ attack had in Profar the one who stood out the most after his home run, a couple of accumulated shots and three RBI. The other with a couple of hits was the Korean Ha-Seoung Kim, even though he was unable to push anyone on the tire.
San Diego was not in the lead by at least six points in the 1984 ALCS Game 3 playoffs against the Chicago Cubs.
This is the fourth time in franchise history that the Padres have scored seven or more points in a post-season game and the first time they have done so away.
