More privacy! WhatsApp will allow you to block screenshots »DUPLOS

WhatsApp will block screenshots.

WhatsApp last year introduced a new option called “See Once” to allow users to send photos and videos in temporary messages. These, once opened, disappear instantly, similar to what can be done on apps like Snapchat and Instagram.

Thinking more and more about people’s privacy, the platform wants to take this feature further. This time it will freeze screenshots and screen recordings for images and videos sent with the “View once” option.

It should be noted that many people have sent temporary messages relying on the goodwill of the recipient. But on the other hand, the intention that the content is only seen once is not respected and they make unwanted catches.

To avoid this kind of inconvenience, the latest version of the app already prevents screen captures and recordings for this type of content. For now, it is being tested on iPhone users.

WhatsApp will block screenshots

If someone tries to take a screenshot while viewing the “Watch once” content, they will be in for a surprise. Good WhatsApp now displays a message saying the screenshot has been “locked for privacy”.

As “WABetaInfo” reports, the final screenshot or screen recording will also display this warning instead of the actual content, thus protecting the user who sent the image or video.

In particular there is no way to disable the new privacy option, which will become a standard for WhatsApp users once it is available to everyone.

For now, WhatsApp’s plans to release this update with blocking screenshots to the public are unknown.

More features coming to WhatsApp

But this is not the only news coming to WhatsApp: the latest beta versions of the app also add the ability to create interactive polls. More recently, WhatsApp also announced that users can now create links to invite other people to join a call, just like Zoom and FaceTime.
