Mass grave found in reconquered Russian city of Lyman | NOW

A mass grave was found in Lyman, eastern Ukraine, according to local authorities. Governor Pavlo Kirilenko says it is unclear how many bodies are in the tomb. The Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform reports that 180 deaths were involved. This number is said to have been mentioned by a police officer.

Lyman is a strategically important place. The Russian military admitted last weekend that the post was recaptured by Ukraine. Elsewhere in eastern Ukraine, the government also claims to have gained territorial gains over the Russians.

Last month, Ukraine reported finding a mass grave in the city of Izium. Hundreds of bodies were found in a suburb of Kiev this spring after the Russian withdrawal. The discovery sparked international outrage.
