Sedena refused to offer evidence for ‘Patria’ vaccine research

Mexico City.- In another of the documents that came to light after the hacking of the National Defense Secretary (Sedena), the agency rejected a proposal from the National Council of Science and Technology (Conacyt) for its elements to participate in the vaccine research protocol “Homeland“Contra COVID-19.

According to Latinstated that Conacyt’s proposal was due to the lack of participants in the second phase of the vaccine, for which they asked Sedena’s support to “invite the military to participate in their study“.

First, Conacyt, according to the article, asked Sedena for support in recruiting campaigns in Oaxaca, Jalisco, Nuevo Leon y Michoacan for volunteers in the development of organic farming which, after two years of health emergency, continues without further progress.

The report described by the media details that a virtual meeting was held on July 8, the members of the Research Center of the Mexican Army and Air Force (Cidefam) and Conacyt officials.

All SEDENA personnel who meet the criteria to participate in the study are required to be summoned in order to register to participate voluntarily.”Indicates point seven of the CIDEFAM-FS-3594 report presented by Latinus.

In response, Sedena rejected the requests for two reasons, the first because the collaboration agreement between the two agencies is for scientific research, not for recruiting volunteers.

It is not in favor of development as a project according to the guidelines of the Framework Agreement for Collaboration with Conacyt, as it does not provide for scientific and technological development activities, in which research personnel with specialized knowledge in molecular biology and immunology must intervene. All military personnel and their dependents have their own full vaccination schedule, so it wouldn’t be a population that would have to be included to participate in its development.”, Determines Sedena in a report given by Latinus.

Prior to that meeting, in April 2021, the director of Conacyt, Maria Elena Alvarez-Buyllasaid in the morning conference that Patria would be ready and available for the Federal Commission for the Protection of Health Risks (Cofepris) for approval for emergency use in December of the same year.
