Brain exercises have been shown to be effective in delaying Alzheimer’s disease and have improved the condition in many patients.
Here are some brain exercises that can prove effective in preventing disease, as mentioned in “Time’s of India”.
– Crossword puzzle:
According to a 2011 research study, playing crossword puzzles delayed the onset of Alzheimer’s disease for 2 to 5 years.
The study titled “Association of Crossword Engagement with Memory Decline in People with Dementia,” published in the Journal of the International Neuropsychiatric Association, highlights the importance of cognitive stimulation of recreational activities for mental health problems such as Alzheimer’s disease or dementia.
Chess:
Aside from the fact that many researchers have found chess to be effective, the amount of mental exercise it takes to play chess is proof in itself that it is one of the best brain exercises ever.
Playing Sudoku:
Experts have said that playing Sudoku can prevent complications such as Alzheimer’s, which can be prevented by solving sudoku, crossword puzzles and chess because they stimulate the brain and keep it active, said Professor Shailendra Mohan Tripathi, a faculty member of the Department of Mental Health on Aging at King George University Medical Center (KGMU) for TOI.
