Bad Loipersdorf (OTS) – The sale of the Loipersdorf spa was completed once all permits were obtained from the public authorities. “This is a historic moment in the history of our company. On 6 October, the spa town of Loipersdorf, including the thermal baths including Schaffelbad, the Hotel “Das Sonnreich” and the Congress Loipersdorf, was officially handed over to the new owners: during a festive ceremony, the keys were symbolically handed over to the representatives of the consortium Ingo Hofmann (Merkur Versicherung AG), Günther Lederhaas (Granit Holding GmbH) and Jörg Siegel (SHR Thermen & Hotel Beteiligung GmbH).
The Loipersdorf thermal baths were the first spas to focus on “well-being” and “fun” and were pioneers in Styrian tourism: as early as 1978 people bathed in the “Schaffel”, which in the past became a 55,000 m² resort. 40 years. The new owners now want to keep this pioneering spirit alive: “We look forward to enriching this heart of the Styrian spa landscape with many new stories. Because in the end we want people to be enthusiastic about the diversity in the region. The mayor of Fürstenfeld and former chairman of the advisory board Franz Jost adds: “We found a competent, committed and down-to-earth consortium of the region’s best bidders in a binding manner. The Loipersdorf spa, the jewel in the crown of Styrian tourism, thus continues on its path to success. And we too will be a benevolent and fair partner in the future. It is particularly gratifying that the successful path of the spa town will continue in the future together with the managing director Philip Borckenstein-Quirini, active since 2018. “Thermenresort Loipersdorf is one of the largest employers in the region. With currently more than 300 employees working directly in the spa, including Schaffelbad or the hotel “Das Sonnreich”, as well as in the Congress Loipersdorf and another 2,000 jobs being generated in the immediate vicinity, the Loipersdorf spa resort is one of the largest employers in the region. Each year, around 560,000 guests visit the South East Styrian thermal baths, which cover a total area of around 55,000 m2 and include 35 swimming pools.
