For his new record, Urbanus collaborated with two guitarists he calls “virtuosos”: compatriot Manu Huylebroeck (26), who plays with Axl Peleman, among others, and Kreuner Jan Van Eyken (68), who also contributed to shape the disc as a producer.
“I met them both through my daughter. As an artist you want to have new impulses every now and then so as not to repeat yourself. If I had let Jan and Manu do it, it would have turned out to be a very solid record, which could have also been played at Tomorrowland. But I’m glad they bring a lot of variety and energy around my strumming with their sturdy guitars, while the lyrics of my songs I listen to remain intact. “
Also special: Urbanus was in the studio with his two daughters, Marieke and Liesa. “They have the choirs sang. They do it well, and of course it’s touching as a father to share something like that with your kids. I also did the album cover with Liesa. I drew nine sketches, each referring to a song, and Liesa made a beautiful overall design. “
