Seminci brings together one of the best years of Spanish cinema in recent years in Spanish cinema

The non-competitive section offers twelve of the most important titles of Spanish cinema of the last year by authors such as Alauda Ruiz de Azúa, Alberto Rodríguez, Carla Simón, Isaki Lacuesta, Rodrigo Sorogoyen or Santi Amodeo

The Spanish Cinema section, which collects Spanish-produced films released in the last twelve months in each edition, will program in this 67th edition of the Valladolid International Film Week what is considered one of the best years of Spanish cinema in recent years. The section will propose 12 feature films, some of which have won awards at international festivals, signed, among others, by authors Alauda Ruiz de Azua, Alberto Rodriguez, Carla Simon, Isaki Lacuesta, Jonas Trueba, Rodrigo Sorogoyen or Santi Amodeo.

Spanish Cinema is a non-competitive section which aims to show a wide panorama of the most significant arthouse films produced by Spanish cinema during the last season and will be screened in copies with English subtitles. This section is basically aimed at foreign journalists and professionals from the world of cinema accredited to our Festival and also allows the Seminci public to discover some of the most recognized titles of national cinema.

The section will propose three titles that can be seen in Valladolid before their premiere in commercial theaters. In particular, The beaststhe new movie Rodrigo Sorogoyen; Waterfall y surothe first works of Elena Lopez Rivera y Mikel Gurrea respectively, which will be scheduled in Seminci before reaching Spanish cinemas.

In addition to the two mentioned, the Spanish cinema will propose the first behind the scenes of Alauda Ruiz de Azua, Five beadsand the actor Miguel Angel Muñoz, 100 days with Tata, the only documentary scheduled in the section. Viewers will also appreciate the second work of Carla Simone, Alcarra, Winner of the Golden Bear at the last Berlinale and chosen to represent Spain at the 95th edition of the Oscars.

Spanish cinema will bring together the new works of already established directors, such as Model 77, from Alberto Rodriguez; the Gentilesfrom Santi Amodeo – special mention of the jury at the 48th Seminci for astronauts-; you have to come and see itfrom Jonas Truebay one year one nightfrom Isaki Lacuesta.
