Nexans has concluded a “significant” contract relating to the first phase of the Empire Wind project developed as part of a 50/50 partnership between Equinor and bp.
“This signing follows that of a preferential supplier contract in March 2021, which marked the start of a collaborative work that lasted several months in view of the negotiation of a turnkey contract that includes the design, production and laying and protecting export cables for this project, “explains Nexans.
The Empire Wind concession area for the first phase of the overall 2.1 GW project is located approximately 33 km south of Long Island, east of Rockaways. Nexans will install 150km of export cables between the Empire Wind 1 offshore substation and the South Brooklyn marine terminal.
