More than 11,000 people have donated money to the campaign, which is called “Gift to Putin”. It was supported by the Czech Ministry of Defense and the Ukrainian Embassy in Prague.
Organizers named the tank destined for Ukraine Tomas in honor of Tomas Garik Masaryk, the first president of Czechoslovakia.
Czech Defense Minister Jana Cernohova thanked all donors and added sarcastically that they provided an appropriate gift for Putin on 7 October, on the occasion of his 70th birthday.
He called Putin an agent of the former USSR State Security Committee (SSC), a murderer and a crook.
Donations for tank ammunition are now being collected in the Czech Republic.
The Embassy of Ukraine in the Czech Republic has already received more than 8.6 million euros in donations.
The Ministry of Defense of the Czech Republic has already delivered arms and ammunition worth over 160 million euros to Ukraine.
CONTEXT:
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered to start invasion of Russian troops in Ukraine. Putin said NATO would use Ukraine as a stepping stone for aggression against Russia, although there was no evidence for these claims.
Ukraine believes that Putin’s real goal is to destroy Ukraine’s statehood and bring the territory under the control of Moscow.
In early autumn, Ukraine counterattacked freed by the occupants more territory than Russia had managed to capture since early April.
