Things are going very chaotic and Tesla’s sales argument that you also get the exclusive network with a Tesla is nullified. There I was waiting for a free seat.
Problem 1: Teslas charge on the rear left. Cars of a different brand that charge in a different place can take cable 1B from station 1A, so that 1A no longer has a charging cable.
2nd problem: waiting for the free seat is very difficult because there is no queue. Everyone happens to be there. Sometimes there are multiple entrances. If a seat becomes available, sometimes you have to let someone in front who has just arrived and if they connect the wrong charging station, they take up 2 seats and you have to wait for the other to be fully charged and then “steal” the charging cable. Very frustrating.
In short: very nice for other electric vehicle drivers, but Tesla compressors are not yet equipped to invite the masses.
They are doing this to save costs, of course, and perhaps under political pressure, but for existing Tesla owners, it is a setback with no compensation.
In general, electric charging is still in its infancy. There are simply too few charging stations and fast chargers. Campsite owners sometimes reject electric vehicles because they don’t have a separate meter and don’t know how to handle load balancing.
Hopefully it’s not like wifi. 10 € ticket for 1 hour wifi when I think about it …
Fast chargers from other brands are often broken. The technology still doesn’t seem robust. While Tesla chargers have always worked so far. The worst I experienced was the load limited to 70kW due to load balancing.
