The first version of the Stellarium virtual planetarium, developed for 20 years, has been released

After more than 20 years of development, the virtual planetarium Stellarium 1.0 has been released. The project is available as applications for Windows, macOS and Linux, there is also a web version and mobile applications.

In the first release version, object detail has been increased, the lighting model has been updated, and support for high resolution displays has been improved. The Windows client now also supports user location functionality.

The standard project library includes more than 600,000 stars, including more than 120,000 from the Hipparcos European Space Telescope archive. When further catalogs are linked, the virtual observation of 210 million stars is available. All the planets of the solar system and their major moons are present. Each available object can be enlarged for a detailed study. You can view an artistic image of the constellations in various styles.

The Stellarium virtual planetarium is supplied as programs for Windows, macOS and Linux in the main formats, as well as in web version. There are also mobile apps for Android and iOS.
