Wolverhampton expelled Portuguese manager Bruno Lage on Sunday after losing to West Ham (2-0) on Saturday and was plunged into the relegation zone of the English Premier League. Lage, who had been at the Molineux club since June 2021, managed to rank the Wolves 10th in his first season, won the best coach award in January and also helped develop young talent.
Jeff Shi, president of Wolverhampton, indicated in a statement that “Bruno is an excellent, dedicated and hardworking coach, and a friendly, wise and honest man”he noticed that it was “A pleasure to work with him and his staff during all this time” and admitted that he had to take “A difficult decision” with “So much sadness”.
“Honestly, I have no doubts about Bruno’s abilities, and I’m sure he will be successful elsewhere, but the form and performance of the team in recent months have made us act”.he pointed.
The club has also confirmed that coaches Steve Davis and James Collins will prepare the squad this week for the visit to Chelsea.. Lage, 46, signed for Wolves in June 2021 to replace compatriot Nuno Espírito Santo after a brilliant spell at Benfica, which he led to the championship title and Super Cup in 2019.
