From the Ph.D shows that cognitive correction (or training) can increase the effect of IPS in the long term. IPS stands for “Individual Placement and Support”, which is a form of practical guide to finding and keeping a paid job for people with a mental illness.
Cognitive training in this study consisted of a computer program for training memory, attention, and planning, in which the participant was supervised by a cognitive therapist. The group that received cognitive training in addition to IPS had clearly worked more often and more hours in paid work after 1.5 years than the group that received control intervention in addition to IPS.
