Hundreds of people in Switzerland have asked for solidarity with the Iranian people. There have been numerous protests in Iran following the death of a young woman.

In several cities around the world, Iranians once again took to the streets to protest against their country’s regime. In Switzerland, over a thousand people joined the demonstrations on Saturday.
In Zurich, a thousand people demonstrated, sometimes in pouring rain, and in Bern there were about 200 people in front of the Iranian embassy, according to reporters from the Keystone-SDA news agency. Another demonstration was scheduled for the evening in Geneva.

Two men entered the embassy area and one of them knocked down a flag from a flagpole. Both were stopped by the police without resistance. They were taken to a police station for further clarification, as reported by Kapo Bern.
When other participants broke through a barrier and ran to the embassy building via Thunstrasse, it was necessary to briefly use rubber shots. According to current knowledge, no one was injured. The demonstration eventually broke up.
Protesters call for solidarity
The participants asked for solidarity with the Iranian people. They want to inform the residents and the government of Switzerland that the ruling regime in Iran has no legitimacy, has brutally cracked down on peaceful demonstrations, arrested numerous people and shot many, a statement read.
Protesters carried placards and chanted, among other things, “Go away, the Mullah must go.” Politicians also showed up in Zurich, including the National Council of the Greens Balthasar Glättli and the National Council of the PS Min Li Marti. According to activists, solidarity demonstrations in support of women in Iran took place in 170 cities around the world.
The trigger for the two weeks of demonstrations in Iran and abroad is the death of the Kurdish woman Mahsa Amini. The 22-year-old was arrested by Tehran’s moral police, apparently because she did not wear the Islamic headscarf according to the rules.
According to activists, she was beaten by the police and then died in hospital. Since then, thousands of people have demonstrated across the country against the repressive behavior of the government and security forces, as well as against the Islamic system.
