With it, you can easily hide program code or text in an image. This approach bypasses traditional security systems. As it turned out, the infected logo was stored in public “clouds” trusted by antivirus systems. In particular, an image with malware was found in the GitHub repository.
Hidden in the operating system logo, the virus infected corporate PCs due to Windows vulnerabilities. After hitting the computer, the malware was given elevated privileges and downloaded additional files designed to perform a cyber attack. According to experts, to fight a new type of virus, PCs need to be banned from downloading files stored in public cloud storage, as well as installing the latest Windows updates.
