It is still unclear when a cycle path will be built between Kirchzarten and Freiburg and who will pay for it. But it is very likely that it will be built. Why: A current feasibility study commissioned by the Regionalverband Südlicher Oberrhein (RVSO) confirms that this route has great potential – and the city of Freiburg, the district of Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald and the municipality of Kirchzarten support the project.

According to the state government, car traffic accounts for a third of the climate-damaging CO2 emissions in Baden-Württemberg. The aim is therefore to promote cycling and create the necessary infrastructure. For this reason, the RVSO, with financial support from the state of Baden-Württemberg, has launched a feasibility study costing 32,000 euros, in which various recommended and preferred routes are examined.
