Indonesia beats Curacao, Shin Tae Yong’s name echoes in Pakansari

No Shin Tae Yong echoed Pakansari stadium, Cibinong, Bogor, after Indonesian national defeated Curacao 2-1 in the second leg of FIFA Matchday, Tuesday (27/9) night.

Indonesia took the lead thanks to goals from Dimas Drajad and Dendy Sulistyawan. This result continues the impressive report card from the previous match which ended 3-2 for Indonesia at Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium on Saturday (24/9).

The figure of Shin Tae Yong was cheered by the fans after the long whistle of the referee Xaypaseth Phongsanit of Laos. The scream of the name of Shin Tae Yong was launched for the first time by the Ultras Garuda who was in the stands behind the goal, to be precise in the south stand.

A moment later it was the turn of the group of Indonesian national fans in the northern stands, La Grande Indonesia, to shout the name of the South Korean coach. The name Shin Tae Yong was also used as a shout by around 21,000 spectators in the stadium.

“Shin Tae Yong, Shin Tae Yong, Shin Tae Yong ale Ale.” Fans once echoed the 52-year-old manager’s name.

Welcoming the scream, Shin Tae Yong approached the center of the field giving a round of applause. The Indonesian national team players also followed Shin Tae Yong to the center of the pitch.

The name Shin Tae Yong that recently resonated in the stadium sounded familiar. When he overtook Indonesia’s Under-20 national team at the 2023 Under-20 Asian Cup, the former South Korea manager at the 2018 World Cup was also praised by fans.
