NEW YORK – A New York judge has taken a hard line on the man suspected of unleashing a shooting outside the iconic and crowded St. Patrick’s Cathedral.
According to authorities, a group of people were participating in a card game on August 28 near 50th St., between Madison Ave and 5th Ave, when a dispute occurred. One of them showed a firearm after an argument and fired, hitting a vehicle in the area around 5:49 pm. Fortunately, no one was injured.
Pedro Hernández surrendered to authorities on Monday in connection with the shooting, police sources said.
A Manhattan judge went over the $ 150,000 cash bail required in Hernandez’s case for the August shooting, ordering custody of the 22-year-old pending a grand jury decision, and took note.
The judge noted that Hernandez was already on probation for a crime committed in the Bronx.
Pedro Hernandez is charged with attempted murder, attempted assault, criminal possession of a weapon and danger from shooting near St. Patrick’s Cathedral.
