Should Diabetics Stop Eating Carbohydrates?

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – If you are skeptical of the validity of what you hear about carbohydrates and the need to stop diabetics from eating them, you are right. This information is just a myth.

The Ministry of Health and Protection of the UAE Community explained, through its official account on the “Instagram” website, that complex carbohydrates, ie starches, are the most important source of energy needed by the body’s organs to perform various vital activities.

Therefore, diabetics are advised to eat carbohydrates, but in moderation.

And the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population, through its official account on the “Twitter” website, has published a series of nutritional advice for diabetics.

He revealed that the components of the ideal meal for a diabetic patient are half a plate of fresh or cooked vegetables, while the other half consists of a quarter of protein and a quarter of carbohydrates, with a glass of water.

The Egyptian Ministry of Health has indicated that white flour and sugar of all kinds are among the causes of the sudden sharp rise in blood sugar. Therefore, it is best to avoid the following products:

  • White bread
  • bakery products
  • sweets
  • Drink
  • juices

It is important to stick to the daily consumption of specific amounts of starches and sugars, which helps control sugar and prevent complications, such as diabetic foot, retinal detachment, and weakness or loss of vision.
