US alliance with Russia, against China

In a delusional text by Mathias Döpfner, president and CEO of Axel Springer, editor of Politico, the author draws a post-war scenario between Russia and Ukraine in which President Putin would no longer appear.

Döpfner is betting on the geopolitical conformation of the US-Ukraine-Russia (AMERUS) block that would help prevent China’s expansionist goals. In other words, Döpfner naively thinks that Russia should be a rival to the government of President Xi Jinping.

Former President Donald Trump is also among those who believe there must be a confrontation between China and Russia. He said it last March, in front of the main donors of the Republican Party.

Trump said the US should fly its F-22 planes with the Chinese flag and “bomb Russia” (The Washington Post, March 6, 2022). Here’s how Trump views geopolitics.

“And then we say China did it, we didn’t do it, China did it, and then they started arguing with each other, and we sit and watch.”

Even Henry Kissinger, the creator of modern diplomacy and the architect of the resurgence of US-China relations, like Mathias Döpfner, believes that Washington and its allies will try to lure Russia into their Western camp to confront China.

Kissinger stepped down as Secretary of State 45 years ago, but he never stopped reflecting on geopolitics. He did it last May at the Davos Economic Forum, on May 23rd. “Henry Kissinger: Ukraine must cede territory to Russia,” headlined The Telegraph, sparking angry tweets from progressives.

In fact, Kissinger didn’t say those words. What the former secretary of state said is that the “dividing line (between Russia and Ukraine) should be a return to the status quo ante”, ie the situation that prevailed before February 24, when parts of Donetsk and Lugansk were under pro-Russian control.

Kissinger disagrees with Ukraine joining NATO.

It is clear that the 99-year-old former secretary of state proposes something incredible and absurd: that Russia should fall into the arms of the United States.

The desire to form AMERUS would lead to the return of the unipolar world, a scenario that not even the UN itself wants.

Mexico should support and strengthen its multipolar policy; keep its political, economic and commercial channels open with all countries of the world. It also requires resistance to US pressure on the sanctions issue, a strategy that underpins its economic and commercial interests.

Complex times; the seas of geopolitics move too much.
