Xiaomi Civi 2 features a capsule-shaped cutout in the middle

Xiaomi announced the other day that it will present the Civi 2 device on September 27 and, in addition to the announcement, it also showed the back of the smartphone. More details have now arrived on the device, which will come with dual front cameras, and the modules will be housed in a somewhat familiar capsule-shaped cutout at the top of the display.

In the upper part of the display, aligned in the center, we can pay attention to a capsule-shaped notch, inside which two image recording units are placed. One will be a 32-megapixel wide-angle camera and the other will be a 32-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera.

If the appearance reminds you of the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models, you are probably not alone. In the case of Apple phones, this part is fully interactive thanks to the so-called dynamic island solution, so it is not yet known if Xiaomi is planning something similar.

Before anyone mentions a groundbreaking innovation, it’s worth noting that this won’t be the first smartphone running Android to have a cropped camera of this shape, we’ve already seen it from Huawei, Samsung, and Realme, among others.

The manufacturer also revealed that the main camera of the Xiaomi Civi 2 will be equipped with a Sony IMX766 50 megapixel sensor, the same module is also found on the back of the Xiaomi 12, but in the case of the Civi 2, the aperture value will be f /1.8, f / 1 instead of 9.

According to the company, the Civi 2’s main camera can let in 101.8% more light than the main image recorder used in the previous generation, and the photo shooting speed is increased by 144%. In the case of night photos, the same speed increase is 246 percent, if we can believe the manufacturer. A certain “Bionic Eyes Atmospheric Portrait” feature has also been mentioned, but what exactly this entails is a mystery.

Thanks to one of the images published by Xiaomi, it also turns out that the Civ 2 will come with Dolby Atmos support, and there will also be small flashes around the aforementioned front modules on the top frame, which will provide extra lighting when taking selfie.

The manufacturer has not talked about it, but according to rumors it will be the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset inside the smartphone to perform the calculations.
