If you’re missing the little toy robots Cozmo and Vector from Anki, a company that threw in the towel in 2019, then KEYi Technology’s “companion robot” Loona looks like he might be a worthy successor to these.
Loona reasonably looks like a cat on wheels and is probably meant primarily to be used as a toy. The robot is equipped with facial recognition and can be controlled via a series of voice commands. Loona’s abilities include that the robot can dance, play the beatbox, pose for photos, and follow its owner on walks around the house.
Loona is now crowdfunded via Kickstarter and if you skip that campaign you should be able to get a Loona for around $ 300 with delivery in February. If or when Loona is released in stores, KEYi Technology plans to charge $ 450 for the little toy robot. In the image above and below, Loona can be seen alongside KEYi Technology’s ClickBot modular toy robot.
