It now has a completely new location, equipped with all the necessary digital equipment. This project also included the construction of a Student House and a large space, baptized Agorà, defined as having to allow “the articulation of the various university, research, teaching and entrepreneurial functions of the campus”, but which, on site, causes a certain debate, due to its appearance of a vast empty esplanade.

To RE 2020 standards

The ISALAB was built according to the standards of REF (environmental legislation) 2020, even if the relative building permit had been filed before the entry into force of these new obligations in terms of energy efficiency, primary energy consumption and comfort during the summer period without air conditioning, while reducing the carbon impact.

Christian La Borderie will have been able to witness the progress of this project to the end, before handing over the position of director of ISA BTP to Benoît Ducassou on Monday 3 October. Human Isa, the plus of ISA BTP

One of the strengths of the ISA BTP school is to put its students in close contact with the business world. It does this by organizing its training. Of the 59 graduates of the class of 2022, 14 girls and 45 boys, 14 completed the last year of work-study training. It should be noted that among these newly graduated engineers is Thomas Dolhagaray, a young opening medium from Aviron bayonnais.
ISA BTP also has the Junior ONEa junior company that allows students to provide site monitoring services, structural calculations or digital modeling for the benefit of local authorities or companies.
ISA BTP has also created the Human Isa association, which allows each promotion of future engineers to prepare, from the 4th year, a construction project for the benefit of an NGO, all over the world. The class of 2022 went to the Comoros to build a school. Human Isa 2023 is preparing with the Techo Paraguay association the construction of a treatment center near the capital, Asuncion. Engineering students will go there in March 2023.

ISALAB includes two 120-seat amphitheaters each, which can be combined into one and a 100-seat amphitheater. It also includes 1,100 square meters of didactic spaces, which include classrooms, practical classrooms, multimedia classrooms, 985 square meters of offices for teachers and researchers, over 900 square meters of laboratories with a test room, a production of materials, a technical platform composed of several atmosphere rooms. controlled and rooms for practical work.

International recruitment

“ISALAB is not reserved exclusively for ISA BTP”, underlines Christian La Borderie. The amphitheater hosts courses for students in Biology Licenses and hosts two research laboratories SIAM and LFC-R (1).

The growing attractiveness of the school has also allowed the recruitment of teacher-researchers at an international level.

In twenty-five years, ISA BTP has gone from a training school for directors to a school of engineering focused on the energy transition and the digital revolution, in constant contact with research. “This has also led to the creation of new chairs in urban physics, low-carbon construction and CO2 capture,” emphasizes Christian La Borderie. The growing attractiveness of the school has also allowed the recruitment of teacher-researchers at an international level. “
