This is good news for users of the Paris – Montbard line: an additional stop has been obtained from Paris and a subsequent departure on Sunday evening from Montbard.
The Montbard service on the Paris-Dijon TGV line was often in the eye of the storm for train cancellations, especially during the Covid health emergency: services had been canceled due to lack of passengers.
The request to extend the current service was successful. The President of the Departmental Council of the Côte-d’Or François Sauvadet forwarded the requests of the users of the line to the Regional Directorate of the SNCF.
In practice, from December 2022:
- the last train on Sunday evening will leave Montbard at 21:01 (up from 17:37 today)
- an additional TGV stop will be offered from Paris at 6:52 pm.

François Sauvadet reacted in a press release on Thursday 22 September at noon: “This new offer meets the expectations of users of the Montbard – Dijon – Paris line, undeniably strengthens the existing offer and allows for better service for Montbard station. This line is essential for living and occupancy areas in Montbard.”
Per Laurence Porte, DVC Mayor of Montbard, “This service restores a balance. We feel like we’re back in an organization before the covid.”
“This is satisfying news for users. I am thinking of those employees who have a residence in our territory and have to return to Paris on Sunday for professional reasons. It is also an opportunity to enjoy a Parisian weekend with a subsequent return.
However, the mayor of Montbard points out his remarks: “We keep an eye on train times on weekdays for daily commuters!”
In February 2020, the SNCF announced the suspension of the Lille-Mulhouse line, which served Dijon and Montbard for construction. Since that date, this line has not yet been restored, the SNCF pointing out the lack of attendance.
Laurence Porte remains vigilant regarding this service, “It is an essential radial that avoided the starry network that passes through Paris! And for the economic forces of the territory the question of the canceled Lille-Mulhouse line remains unresolved: it conditions access to Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris, the international gateway for many of our economic actors, from industry to the hotel industry, these questions will not fail to be addressed during the annual TGV Observatory which will soon be organized in the sub-prefecture of Montbard.
