More than 80,000 COVID-19 vaccines are about to be lost in Medellín | Antioch

A batch of over 80,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines is about to be lost
Medellin
as warned by Personería of the city and the Secretary of Health, appealing to the citizens not to lose these organic products.

Among the doses that are about to expire this month are 40,852 doses of Sinovac expiring this September 27th y 39.280 from Moderna expiring on 30 September.

There is also 615 Janssen vaccines at risk, with expiration date between November and December.

The Undersecretary of Public Health of Medellín, Milena Lopera, invited citizens to participate in the 78 vaccination points currently in place in the city and complete their schedules according to the doses corresponding.

“Currently Medellín has the first doses for those who have not started their vaccination programs. To complete the vaccination program we have a first booster starting from the age of 18 and the second reinforcement from the age of 18, “the official said.

The Personería District of Medellín said it was willing to accompany the strategies that, by the municipality, are expected to guarantee the
National vaccination plan
.

“From the Personería de Medellín, through the Observatory of the Fundamental Right to Health, in its inspection and surveillance component, we are in constant communication with the Secretary of Health, where they report that Covid vaccination is having lots close to expiration“said Laura Morales, leader of the Observatory on the Fundamental Right to Health.

This issue is of great concern, because despite the deployment of communications to encourage vaccination, 732 biologicals from pharmaceutical company Pfizer have already expired in early Septemberwhich shows that the actions implemented are insufficient.
