“Supernova is the largest competition organized by Latvian television, the winners of which get a ticket to Eurovision, which is not only a fantastic opportunity and an unforgettable experience for artists, but also a very responsible task of representing Latvia. We are proud of the public recognition this year – supernova the ratings were the best in recent years! Winners – group Other boys – allowed everyone to notice Latvia in Eurovision, but who will be next ?! Although there is no specific formula for creating a Eurovision winning song, we wish the musicians creative flight and courage in submitting songs for the competition. Supernova!“says Agnese Štrause-Kubliņa, head of the editorial staff of children’s, youth and entertainment programs at LTV.
Artists, authors and producers who have reached the age of 16 are invited to participate in the competition. Applications from soloists, duets and groups (up to six members) are welcome. The competition rules provide that foreign citizens can participate in the competition as songwriters, music authors or phonogram producers.
The track submitted must not have been released or played (including live performance) at public events before September 1, 2022.
Registration for the competition of authors and songwriters Supernova in the next round – television broadcasts – will be determined by a jury selected by Latvian Television, which will evaluate the structure of the piece, the originality, the arrangement, the message, the respect for modern market trends, the piece and the capacity of the competitor to compete in the international pop music market, as well as the performer’s vocal skills, personality and previous achievements in the industry, potential for future achievements. Latvian television also reserves the right to invite artists and authors to participate in the competition.
For security reasons, Latvian Television will again only reveal the names of the jury representatives this year after the international Eurovision Song Contest in May. The jury will include representatives of the Latvian music, events and television industry, as well as foreign professionals.

Representatives of Ukraine won the Eurovision final on May 14th Kalush Orchestra with a song Stefania, however, the Union of European Broadcasting Companies has decided to entrust the organization of the 2023 competition to Great Britain.
