The Ukrainian operator of the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant has accused Russia of having again attacked the site of the nuclear power plant in southern Ukraine. “Russian terrorists bombed the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant again during the night,” Enerhoatom told Telegram messaging service today.
The Zaporizhia nuclear power plant in southern Ukraine is the largest in Europe and has been occupied by Russian troops since March. The plant site has been bombed repeatedly in recent weeks, fueling fears of a nuclear catastrophe. Russia and Ukraine blamed each other for the attacks. Fighting in the area has repeatedly caused power outages.
In early September, a group of experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), led by its Director General Rafael Grossi, went to the nuclear power plant and carried out investigations there. Since then, the team members have been permanently on the site of the power plant to monitor the situation.
