“It is with deep sadness that we announce that on September 20, longtime Latvian publicist, translator, television and radio journalist, politician, commander of the Three Star Order, Polish and passionate patriot of Latvia, adventurous fisherman – Rišards Labanovskis,” writes his son Ervins Labanovskis.

The farewell to Rišard Labanovska will take place on September 26 at 2 pm, in Riga Varoņu Street 3a, in the Riga Crematorium, in the Great Hall.

Rishards Labanovskis (1940-2022) was a popular radio publicist and journalist, from 1990 to 1992 he was chairman of the State Television and Broadcasting Committee. Translated from Polish. He was a member of the 7th Saeima, elected from the list of the “Union of Latvian Social Democrats”. In 2020, Labanovskis was awarded the Order of Three Stars for Services to Latvia.
