Will we see Asensio with the Catalan team shirt if he leaves Real Madrid?
Real Madrid star Marco Asensio spoke about his future in light of his association with moving to Barcelona following the end of his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Asensio has a contract with Real Madrid until the end of the current season, and so far the two sides have not reached an agreement to renew the contract and to continue for a longer period with the royal shirt.
Several press reports have recently indicated that Barcelona are interested in a contract with Asensio to support the battalion ranks Xavi Hernandez, the Barca manager.
Asensio comments on Barcelona’s interest in signing him
“I had the opportunity to leave Real Madrid in the last period, but the confidence that Carlo Ancelotti gave me in his speech was fundamental in not leaving,” Asensio said in statements on Spanish radio “Cobe”.
He continued: “I have received a lot of messages from my friends because of the many rumors about my future, but this is normal as I can sign up as a free player for any club in a few months.”
He continued: “We’ll see what happens, in the world of football things can change very quickly, so I can’t tell you more because I don’t know what’s going to happen.”
Regarding the boos at the Bernabeu and the anger for not playing against Mallorca, Asensio said: “You can tell if I’m happy or angry and that day nothing changed and it was a special match for me.”
At the start, the Spanish international said: “I have thought about it, they see my commitment for the seven years I have spent in Madrid and I respect the fans very much, who are free to express their opinions.”
And on the possibility of signing the traditional rival of the royals, he said: “I don’t know if Barcelona want me, there are many rumors, and that’s normal.”
He continued: “Did Barcelona communicate with me? In fact, I don’t know if there have been contacts or not. There have been many reports from other clubs as well.”
“I’ve never thought about the future or the Barcelona game, and I haven’t evaluated it, so I don’t know, now I can’t answer.”
