Iranian women burn hijab to protest Mahsa Amini’s death

A number of women in different cities Iran in a desperate attempt to take off and burn her veil in protest against the death of a young woman named Mahsa Amini in police custody after being arrested for not wearing the hijab. The demonstration also protested hijab rules that happened in that country.

As reported Arab newsOn Wednesday (9/21/2022), demonstrations were held in dozens of Iranian cities to protest the death of Amini. He knew this from a Twitter account called @ 1500tasvir which has 80,000 followers and has posted videos of demonstrations sent from various parts of Iran.

Such protests are known to have entered its fifth day on Tuesday (9/20) local time, with the first demonstrations taking place after Amini was announced on Friday (9/16) last week.

Amini fell into a coma shortly after being arrested by the moral police in Tehran on September 13, for disobeying the hijab rule. Police said Amini had fallen ill, but activists and protesters said Amini was beaten by police during his detention, resulting in severe injuries that resulted in death.

Videos posted on social media show women taking off their veils and, in some cases, burning it in cities in an unprecedented scene in Iran that requires women to wear hijabs in public.

A video from the city of Sari shows a woman dancing with a hijab in her hand. She then threw the hijab into the flames, which was greeted with applause by other protesters.

Demonstrations against Amini’s death also took place in two Iranian conservative cities, Mashhad and Qom. Mashhad is the birthplace of Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and the site of a sacred shrine to eight Shiite imams, while Qom is considered the “religious capital” of Iran because many senior Shia clerics live there.
