Windows 11 22H2 has been officially released, but that doesn’t mean it will be immediately available on all computers. Volunteers can download the feature update now, but without the user’s express wish, Microsoft won’t “stuff” Windows 11 22H2 on every computer.

As with previous versions of Windows, even after the premiere of Windows 11, installing a new version remains an option at the moment. The new version 22H2 should therefore already be available in Windows Update on computers with Windows 11 (and at least the “update preview” function of June), but you have to force the installation manually – in Windows Update.

From these installations, Microsoft will observe the behavior of Windows 11 22H2 on computers with different configurations. If there are errors, the possibility of updating will be immediately suspended in subsequent casesto protect users from errors. Availability on Windows Update will resume once the bugs are fixed.

Microsoft adds that Windows 11 22H2 is also available for Windows 10 users, but here it is still necessary to meet all hardware requirements (including those regarding the freshness of the processor and the presence of the TPM 2.0 module). If the system meets the requirements, the option to update Windows 10 to the latest Windows 11 should be visible in Windows Update in the form of a colorful banner.
