An earthquake measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale was recorded in Mexico, Reuters reported. According to the US Geological Survey, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km. It was recorded a few minutes after 13:00 local time.
The quake occurred not far from the city of Kolyma, with a population of 150,000. The earthquake was also felt in the capital, Mexico City, which is more than 500 km from the epicenter.

Authorities initially warned of the danger of a tsunami with waves of 1 to 3 meters, but the first waves observed were small – 0.32 meters.
Exactly on September 19, there were many powerful earthquakes in Mexico in 1985 and 2017. In 1985 thousands of people died, in 2017 – 350 people.
