Panama, September 19th. Panama added 1,580 new cases of covid-19 and 3 disease deaths from Sept. 11-17, which brought confirmed infections to 985,814 and deaths to 8,490 since the pandemic’s arrival in the country in March 2020, it said. Health (Minsa).
In its weekly report, the Ministry of Health specified this Monday that to date there are 7 coronavirus patients hospitalized in the Intensive Care Units (ICU) and 75 in the ward, while 2,178 are isolated at home.
The patients who have managed to heal are 975,064 since March 9, 2020, when the first case of contagion occurred in Panama, which is going through a prolonged fifth wave of pandemic that is gradually diminishing.
In the last week, 28,130 tests were applied to detect cases of covid, which produced an overall positive percentage of 5.7%.
As for the vaccination process, official data show that 8,605,580 doses of the covid-19 vaccine have been applied since January 20, 2021, the vast majority from the pharmaceutical company Pfizer.
Children between the ages of 5 and 11 received 465,629 pediatric doses, according to Minsa.
