MEXICO CITY, KOMPAS.com – Earthquake in Mexico Monday (19/9/2022) shook the west of the country on the anniversary of the two great earthquakes of 1985 and 2017.
The national seismological agency reported, Earthquake in Mexico this is a magnitude of 7.4, while the United States Geological Survey (USGS) estimates it to be a magnitude of 7.6.
The epicenter of Mexico was 59 kilometers south of Coalcoman in the state of Michoacan on the Pacific coast, a few hundred kilometers west of Mexico City, the Mexican news agency reported. AFP.

The Mexico City earthquake warning went off less than an hour after the capital held emergency drills. People immediately poured out onto the street again.
“It’s terrible,” said Karina Suarez, 37, after exiting the building where she lives in the capital.
“No damage reported so far,” Mexico City Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum tweeted.

On September 19, 1985, an 8.1 magnitude earthquake in Mexico City killed more than 10,000 people and destroyed hundreds of buildings.
Then, in 2017, the 7.1 magnitude earthquake in Mexico killed about 370 people, mostly in the capital.
