Typhoon No. 14 temporarily turned into a violent force. The Japanese Meteorological Agency issued an emergency call on the 17th.

Most municipalities in Kagoshima prefecture released information about the evacuation, and some people spent the night in evacuation centers.

Due to the typhoon, commercial facilities and some convenience stores in the prefecture are closed. Traffic was cleared across the board and people disappeared from the city that was supposed to be crowded for the three-day weekend.
An instantaneous maximum wind speed of 50.9 meters was observed in Yakushima, where a typhoon passed through the area in the afternoon.
In the city of Kagoshima, which entered the storm zone, a broken crane was found at the construction site of a 19-story apartment building. Although there was no damage, residents who would have been hit if they fell were evacuated.
In a pachinko parlor in the city of Kanoya, the shop’s outer glass wall was broken for about 10 meters.
Then, the typhoon moved further north and landed near the city of Kagoshima around 7pm. The central atmospheric pressure at the time of landing was 935 hectopascals, making it the fourth strongest landing in history.
On the night of 18, the rain caused by the typhoon’s rain clouds intensified and the prefecture’s rain gauge recorded 86 mm of torrential rain in one hour in the city of Kirishima. In Tashiro, Kinie-cho, the amount of rain since the beginning of autumn 15 has exceeded 450 mm.
In addition, the water level has risen in various rivers and the Anraku River in Shibushi City and the Amori River in Kirishima City have temporarily exceeded the “flood hazard water level”.
