Leicester City admire two coaches with Brendan Rodgers on the verge of being sacked after Tottenham defeat

Leicester City reportedly have two coaches on their wish list to replace Brendan Rodgers following the heartbreaking 6-2 loss to Tottenham Hotspur.

According to The Telegraph (via To express), the Foxes see former Burnley manager Sean Dyche and Brentford boss Thomas Frank as potential options.

Dyche is currently out of work after being fired by the Clarets in the second half of last season. He spent a spectacular time at Turf Moor, most notably taking him to the knockout stages of the UEFA Europa League in 2018.

The English tactician has repeatedly ensured that Burnley retains top division status, which he lost at the end of last season after his departure.

Meanwhile, Frank took the Bees to a respectable 13th place in the Premier League last season, his first season in the top flight in 74 long years. The team will look to do even better this season and are currently ninth with two wins and three draws in seven league games.

Both coaches would bring very different approaches to Leicester if they were nominated. Dyche Burnley’s team were known for their tough physical approach, as well as their never giving up stance and defensive solidity.

Brentford under Frank, meanwhile, showed immense offensive talent during his time in the Premier League. The Bees have already scored 15 goals in seven league games this season, second only to Manchester City (23), Tottenham (18) and Arsenal (17).

Leicester City remain the only winless side in the Premier League this season after Tottenham’s setback

Leicester boss Rodgers has been under pressure since pre-season due to a lack of transfer activity with the Foxes trying to balance their accounts this summer. Center-back Wout Faes was the only big arrival and was a replacement for outgoing Wesley Fofana rather than an addition that added to his depth.

Faes were among the starting eleven for the away match against a Tottenham side that split opinion this season but were undefeated in the league. Rodgers’ side even took the lead from the spot with Youri Tielemans just six minutes after kick-off.

However, Harry Kane scored just two minutes later to equalize the Spurs. Eric Dier then put them ahead in the 21st minute after Leicester once again failed to manage a set piece.

James Maddison arrived with a fantastic finish four minutes before half-time to equalize the Foxes. However, Rodrigo Bentancur punished Wilfred Ndidi’s mistake by putting Tottenham ahead with less than two minutes to go.

Son Heung-min, who hadn’t scored a Premier League goal this season, went off the bench to score a hat-trick as the unfortunate visitors fell 6-2. With that result, 20th-placed Leicester have conceded 11 goals in their last two league games and 22 in seven games this season.

Rodgers’ side are also the only team to have won a Premier League match this season after Everton beat West Ham United 1-0 on Sunday (18 September). The Leicester boss may very well be out of his current role at the end of the next international break.
