The weather is cold, especially at night. Waiters are advised to dress warmly, drink plenty of water and eat regularly. And that advice is followed. People are offered hot drinks along the side of the road. Those who wait also bring their own provisions, but cannot bring food into Westminster Hall. All food is confiscated from Victoria Tower Gardens. But don’t throw it out. What is not perishable and unopened is donated to charity. The Felix Project charity has already received hundreds of pounds of food, especially snacks such as cookies, chips and chocolate. Everything is distributed to the local community in the British capital.
The British public has until 6:30 local time Monday morning (7:30 with us) to greet the Queen. Her funeral will take place on that day. The line will probably be officially closed well in advance. Officials monitor everything closely to determine when they can / should permanently close the queue.
