The concert saw the world premiere of Artur Maskat’s triple concert “Dances of the Butterflies of Childhood” for organ, flute and piano, which the orchestra performed alongside internationally renowned Latvian soloists – one of the world’s foremost solo instrumentalists. – the organist Iveta Apkalna, the most recognizable Latvian flutist Dita Krenberg and the master of deep and thoughtful interpretation – the pianist Reini Zariņu.
The concert began with Jura Karlsson’s opera “El Cid. Dance of Life and Death “, and in the end, the audience enjoyed the suite created by the conductor himself from the famous ballet” Romeo and Juliet “by Sergei Prokofiev.
Already on 23 September, the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra will make a short concert tour in Latvia, where it will play music with violinist Daniilas Bulajeva in five concerts under the direction of conductor Andras Veismanis.
On 23 September the orchestra will visit Limbaži, on 24 September in Balvo, on 5 October in Jelgava, on 13 October in Talso and on 14 October the tour will end with a concert in his home – concert hall Liepaja “Lielais dzintars”.
