Berlin (dpa) – Borussia Dortmund temporarily leaps to the top of the standings with the victory in the derby, Bayern Munich slips into crisis: the 7th day was very different for the two top Bundesliga clubs.
While at BVB following the 1-0 (0-0) win over rivals Revier Schalke 04 only concern over injured captain Marco Reus has tarnished the party mood, dark clouds are likely to gather over FC Bayern after the first defeat of the season.
Hofmann of Gladbach scores a brace against RB
RB Leipzig is also not in a good mood. After the mood revived by Marco Rose’s successful debut a week earlier against his former team, Borussia Dortmund, the manager suffered a severe 3-0 (2-0) defeat against another former team in evening at Borussia Mönchengladbach. The cup winners of Saxony are stuck in the middle of the table, the Gladbachers have contact with the top finishers in sixth place. Stuttgart are still waiting for their first home win
Champions League holder Bayer Leverkusen meanwhile missed his first home win of the season and league liberation by beating promoted Werder Bremen 1-1 (0-0). After discussions about CEO Alexander Wehrle and sporting director Sven Mislintat, VfB Stuttgart could not calm down. Due to the 1: 3 (0: 1) against Eintracht Frankfurt, the club is still awaiting their first home win and is in the midst of the battle for relegation.
In the first district derby in a sold out stadium in nearly three years, Dortmund made little use of possession before Youssoufa Moukoko (79th) scored the well-deserved winning goal.
The BVB suffers a shock after half an hour: Reus twists his right foot after an unfortunate duel with Florian Flick. The 33-year-old immediately covered his face with aching hands and was taken off the pitch after extensive treatment. The use of him in upcoming Nations League matches on 23 September in Leipzig against Hungary and on 26 September against England in London is highly questionable.
FC Bayern winless in four league games
Augsburg made Monaco difficult with toughness and a high willingness to run. Bayern were negligent with their chances, which was punished 0: 1 by Mergim Berisha (59th). In added time, FCA goalkeeper Rafal Gikiewicz defused a header from promoted national team goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.
In Stuttgart, the visitors took the lead early with a header from Sebastian Rode (6th) and were rarely pressured by the VfB thereafter. Instead, Daichi Kamada (55th) increases with a free-kick to bring it 2-0. Tiago Tomas (79th) scored the goal before Kristijan Jakic (88th) made the final score.
Leverkusen and Bremen fought a dignified duel with a lot of speed and chances, in the second half Kerem Demirbay (57th) used one to bring the 1-0. But Milos Veljkovic (82nd) managed to equalize in the final for Bremen.
