The French will soon be offered free medical follow-up, with visits at 25, 45 and 65 years old.
In terms of health, France is preparing to enter “the era of prevention”, according to François Braun. The Minister of Health announced this Sunday that the French will now be offered free medical advice at “three key ages of life: 25, 45 and 65”.
This is one of the strongest measures of the Social Security Financing Bill for 2023, which is due to be presented to the Council of Ministers later this month. Nearby Sunday newspaperFrançois Braun explains that these medical appointments will be provided by “doctors and health professionals”, but also that their assignment will be managed by health insurance.
Physical activity, screening and autonomy
The 25-year-old consultation will be an opportunity for students or young workers to “take stock of vaccines, their physical activity, any addictions or difficulties related to the beginning of their professional life”, explains the Minister of Health. The “need for a doctor” and “cardiovascular risk” will be particularly emphasized to this audience.
At the age of 45, the French will be informed of the “need to participate in screening for breast, colon or prostate cancer”. Their free medical appointment also includes “a check on physical activity and any mental health problems”.
